Helford Cattle Egret (20) in field on west side of Frenchnman’s Creek. Also Iceland Gull (juv)

NewquayCattle Egret (6) at roost on Gannel Estuary this evening

The LizardCattle Egret (2) flew over Ruan Pool late afternoon. Also Jack Snipe (2), Shoveler and Little Grebe (Thanks F.Trewin)

Hayle – Cattle Egret on estuary at 1250hrs then flew towards St Erth. Iceland Gull also flew off in same direction. Spoonbill (2), Black-tailed Godwit (2), Sandwich Tern (20+) and Med Gull.

Wadebridge – Dalmatian Pelican (ad) again on River Camel this afternoon viewed from Camel Trail

Perranuthnoe – Hudsonian Whimbrel (ad) still in Boat Cove NT. Park in Perranuthnoe and take coastal path west to view

FalmouthPectoral Sandpiper still at College Reservoir at 0735hrs on island, showing well, still present at 1130hrs (Thanks J.St Ledger and B.Porter). Common Tern (juv) still at Argal Reservoir

Porthgwarra – possible Little Bunting flew over Porthgwarra. Also Woodlark.  Richard’s Pipit in fields between Trevean Pool & derelict buildings at 1415hrs. Yellow-browed Warbler (3) at Roskestal Farm. Lapland Bunting (2) flew over Roskestal Farm

Mullion – Richard’s Pipit south of Mullion Cove at Lower Predannack

Tuesday 10th May 2016 Cornwall Bird Sightings

Lands End – Dalmatian Pelican (ad) relocated at 11:55 circling over car park & Swingate’s House gradually drifting towards Trevilley, then at 1205hrs over Trevilley then flew towards Nanjizal at 1208hrs and lost to view, over Polgigga between 1300-1335hrs, then at 13:54 viewed from Swingate’s House but distant, again in flight from pools by Skewjack at 1530hrs towards Lands end and no further sign by 2000hrs in heavy fog at Lands End. Serin (male) still at Land’s End singing at 0820hrs south of A30 in horse paddock between Swingates House and car park, still at 10:43 singing in garden at Swingates House and still present this evening in horse paddock. Also Turtle Dove (4), Spotted Flycatcher (2), Redpoll. Yellow wagtail, Bar Owl & Redwing (Thanks P.Freestone and K.Nethercoat).

Drift – Great White Egret still at Drift Reservoir at north end

Marazion – Woodchat Shrike (1s male) still at Marazion Marsh RSPB at 07:35, still showing well at 1352hrs. Report of Hudsonian Whimbrel was a Whimbrel (Thanks K.Nethercoat)

Hayle – Spoonbill still at Hayle Estuary at 10:35 from B3301 causeway

Sancreed/Land’s End – HONEY BUZZARD circled west over Sancreed towards Bartinney then St Just at 0945hrs. Presumed same bird seen at Land’s End at 1030hrs (Thanks D.Flumm and P.St Pierre)

Launceston - BLACK KITE (2) Reported c19:30hrs 6miles S/of Launceston near Polyphant over A30 (Birdnet)

Hayle SPOONBILL from hide at Ryan’s Field at 1945hrs. Probable same bird flew east over Ventonleague at 1600hrs. Also Red Kite (10) flew over between 10am and 2pm (Thanks J&P Rutter). Red Kite over Ryan’s Field. Also Ringed Plover (3), Curlew (15) and Dunlin (Thanks P.Jeggo)
