ROSEATE TERN 11/06/07 - Old Town Bay, St Marys

This bird was occasionally obliging but the bay was covered fog when this photo was taken. Well known Scilly birders Bryan Thomas and Bob Flood both waded out chest deep in water in the bay to get better photos! This individual was ringed but another unringed bird was seen off Samson the same day. Birders on the Islands are hoping that these two may help someway towards re-building a Roseate Tern Colony on one of the off-islands that have recently been made rat-free!
