Wednesday 6th February 2008 – Cornwall Bird Reports

Todays Birding highlights in Cornwall include:

CATTLE EGRETS are still at Drift at Treganhoe Farm (9); Newquay near Crantock (5); Camel Estuary from Burniere Hide (4); St Breock Downs near Windfarm (2) and Widegates (2) (thanks C.Buckland)

MarazionRING-BILLED GULL (ad) on beach at 10.50hrs then flew west.

Newlyn ICELAND GULL (Ad, 2w and 2 juvs) still in harbour. Also BN Grebe still and two GN Divers

GwithianWater Pipit still on flashes at St Gothian Sands NR but no sign of Little Gull so far today (Cornwall Birding)

StithiansRING-NECKED DUCK (fem) still at south end off Carmenellis causeway at 16.10hrs. Also Bittern showing very well in front of hide on Southern cutoff (thanks J.Batey)

LooeSlav Grebe (2), Eider (fem), GN Diver (6), Common Sandpiper (2) and Ringed Plover off Hannafore, also Red throated Diver (3), Blackcap (fem) and Chiffchaff at Seaton (thanks C.Buckland)

Hayle EstuaryMed Gull (2 ads and 2w), Greenshank.
