Wednesday 17th September 2008 – Cornwall Bird Reports

Todays birding highlights in Cornwall include:

Pendeen*GREENISH WARBLER* still on road to Pendeen Watch in Sycamores at entrance to Calartha Farm. The bird calls infrequently and seems to favour the tree in the middle of the copse of sycamores. It also frequents the nearby gardens. Also Lesser Whitethroat in sycamores.

The LizardDotterel (2 juv) on cliff top at Soap Cove, Kynance. Also 9 Choughs in flock touring Kynance and Lizard during afternoon. (Thanks B.Hawker)

Sennen CORNCRAKE flushed from field by Trevorian Pool at 1415hrs.

Wadebridge Little Stint (2) on river near Town Bridge then flew toward Dinham Flats

PorthgwarraWRYNECK still south of Roskestal Farm along road near sallow clump. Firecrest by toilet block this morning.

Lands EndWRYNECK again north of boarded up white house. ROSE-COLOURED STARLING (juv) on wire north of complex at 1900-1915hrs. (probably same bird seen earlier at St Levan)

Polgigga ROSE-COLOURED STARLING (ad) again at Treen at 19.05hrs then flew to roost. Also Turtle Dove. BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER still in fields between Higher Bosistow and Ardensawah Farms.

HaylePink-footed Goose at Copperhouse Creek at 0800hrs. Also Snow Goose (of unknown origin).

Hayle Estuary Knot (4), Bar-tailed Godwit (4) and Black-tailed Godwit at high tide this morning. Pink-footed Goose at 10.00hrs (Thanks C.Yates)

NanjizalHONEY BUZZARD over valley this morning.
