Thursday 4th October 2012 Cornwall Bird Reports

Porthgwarra – probable *BLYTH’S PIPIT* reported at Gwennap Head near Coastguard Lookout at 0800hrs tho mobile, no further sign this afternoon. WRYNECK by dry pond at midday. Also Yellow-browed Warbler and Firecrest

Davidstow – BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER (juv) still at Davidstow Airfield on runway. Also Curlew Sandpiper

The Lizard – RED-BACKED SHRIKE (juv) still from footpath in valley to Housel Bay at 1600hrs near pond (Thanks J.Shutt)

Hayle Whooper Swan (5) on Hayle Estuary RSPB along main channel from B3301 Causeway late morning, still present at 1735hrs. Curlew Sandpiper flew towards Copperhouse Creek. Also Med Gull (3, 1w, 2w ad), Little Egret (6), Shelduck, Teal (125), Greenshank (3), Bar-tailed Godwit (5) and Common Sandpiper (Thanks M.Beevers)
