Thursday 22nd May 2008 - Cornwall Bird Reports

Todays Birding highlights in Cornwall include:

Nanquidno - GOLDEN ORIOLE in bushes just NW of track to Gurland Farm til 08.00hrs then flew north.

Lands End - GREAT-WHITE EGRET flew east at 08.25hrs also GOLDEN ORIOLE flew SE over cycle track towards Swingates House and ORTOLAN BUNTING north of complex and west of cycle track flew towards Bunkers Hill this morning. NIGHTINGALE singing west of Polgigga just north of Bosistow Lane in scrub by pines 150 yds east of  ‘private road’ sign this afternoon.

TorpointNIGHTINGALE still singing in scrub near Tregantle Fort entrance 1800 - 2100hrs. Seen once in flight when flew to south west of road, where it sang briefly in scrub before retuning to scrub opposite fort entrance. (Thanks R.Smith)

Nanjizal - Hobby flew over valley this afternoon.

Sennen - Hobby just east of sennen over Trevorian pool also Turtle Dove (2) and Spotted Flycatcher (3).
