Sunday 8th December 2013 Cornwall Bird Sightings

Hayle – *GLOSSY IBIS* (3), 2 at Hayle Estuary RSPB at Ryan’s Field mid morning tho mobile then flew west and 1 late morning landed on estuary. Also Med Gull (12), Yellow-legged Gull (ad), Merlin (ad fem), Golden Plover (1200), Lapwing (600), Dunlin (300), Bar-tailed Godwit (12), Greenshank (3), Turnstone (16), Kingfisher (2), Little Egret (9), Buzzard (2) and Common Gull (9) (Thanks V.Stratton et al)

Marazion – *GLOSSY IBIS* at Marazion marsh RSPB this morning then flew north. Bittern (2) still. Also Pintail (male), Goldeneye (fem) and Peregrine. Yellow-legged Gull (ad) on beach. (Thanks D.Mays)

Padstow – *GLOSSY IBIS* at St Merryn in morning

Helston – *GLOSSY IBIS* flew over Loe Pool at 1450hrs

Penzance – Black Redstart (male) Penzance on rocks by train station

Gunwalloe – Yellow-browed Warbler in willows near boardwalk this morning

The Lizard – Firecrest at Windmill Farm

Saltash – Avocet (100), Dunlin (89), Lapwing (32), Black-tailed Godwit (47), Greenshank (34) and Grey Heron (7) at Kingsmill lake at high tide (Thanks P.Kemp)

Newquay – Balearic Shearwater in bay off Towan Head. Also Purple Sandpiper (4) and GN Diver (Thanks S.Rowe)

Looe – Black Redstart on cafe roof on Looe Beach. Also Eider (drk) offshore still showing well at 0900hrs. Med Gull (18) at Hannafore(Thanks M.Hughes)

Launceston – Marsh Tit in garden (Thanks CJK)

Truro – Kingfisher and Grey Wagtail on river behind Mannings hotel (Thanks C.Winfield)
