Sunday 28th December 2008 Cornwall Bird Report

Todays Birding highlights in Cornwall include:

St Ives**SNOWY OWL** (juv) still on moors SW of St Ives, south of B3306 at Sperris Quoit on moor at Trig Point until 10.30hrs when it was selfishly flushed by birders/photographers and flew over hill out of sight. Whatever happened to the Welfare of the bird comes first! If refound please view from a distance and do not attempt to get close to the bird for photographs. HelstonRING-BILLED GULL (1w) still at Helston Boating Lake. Long-tailed Duck again at Loe Pool

MarazionWater Pipit still on beach at Red River mouth. Swallow (2) over Marazion Marsh RSPB.

PenzanceSlav. Grebe still in Sandy Cove, Newlyn. Purple Sandpiper (10+) on rocks at Jubilee Pool.

Crowdy ReservoirHen Harrier (ringtail) this afternoon

TruroBlack-tailed Godwit (26) and Dunlin (200+) on Truro River near Boscawen Park. Also Spotted Redshank and Black-tailed Godwit (16) at Sunny Corner. (Thanks D.Jenkins)

Falmouth Velvet Scoter (2) in the Carrick Roads off Loe Beach still. Firecrest again at Swanpool (Thanks M.Jones)
