Sunday 20th April 2008 – Cornwall Bird Reports

Todays Birding highlights in Cornwall include:

Laddock – *CATTLE EGRET* (2) in  sloping cow pasture on the right hand side on Laddock to New Mills road, just after the Nankilly turn. (Thanks S.Wilcock)

Penzance – *CATTLE EGRET* (16) at Chysauster east of Newmill in field south of track to Boscreege Farm SW.470.340. Cuckoo at Sandy Cove briefly. Arctic Tern, Common Tern (2) and Common Scoter (2) offshore at Newlyn.

Camelford – *WHITE STORK* at Week St Mary then flew west early afternoon (for 2nd day)

Charlestown – probable *PALLAS’S WARBLER* on coast path by the coastguard station opposite Porth Avalon Hotel (thanks D.Hastilow)

West PentireMontagu’s Harrier flew west over Porth Joke at 08.30hrs. Also Ring ouzel.

HelstonPurple Heron along A394 between Breage and Ashton this evening.

The LizardHoopoe still at Windmill Farm NR today. Also Garganey and Ruff still (Thanks B.Hawker)

Gwithian – Birds at St Gothian Sands today include: Whimbrel (4+), Dunlin (6), House Martin (1), Wheatear (2), Dunlin (6), Common Sandpiper (1), Willow Warbler (2), Reed Warbler (2 in ditch at eastern edge) and White Wagtail (Thanks T.Twiggs, D.Jenkins et al)

Trebullett, East Cornwall -  Ring Ouzel (Male), Mistle Thrush (4) and Blackcap in meadow Nr Trebullett, East Cornwall (Thanks D.Thomas)

MarazionBlack Tern (2) and Little Gull (10+) this morning. Also Whimbrel (30) on beach.

Treen Hoopoe at Trendennen Farm this evening

Lands EndRedstart and Grasshopper Warbler between Lands end and Sennen. Iceland Gull off Lifeboat Station at Sennen. Hoopoe again at Brew Pool.

Kenidjack Pied Flycatcher, Redstart and Garden Warbler in valley today

Crowlas Ring Ouzel at Castle Gate Quarry at Roger’s Tower
