    Hi,

It’s great to see all the red kite sightings today. Being new to Cornwall I had no idea there was an annual influx of them. Where do these birds originate from and does anyone know why they flood into Cornwall?

    Best wishes,

    Adam

Hi Adam, there are two trains of thought with these influxs. There have been, in the past few years, an early influx which involves around 20-30 birds then another that can involve up to 100+ individuals. Some are of the opinion that these are British Birds that move off the breeding grounds (ie. non-breeding birds) and others believe them to be continental birds. Im personally with the 2nd camp, as the birds don’t get seen moving down the country or through Devon. They just seem to appear in Cornwall. Many of todays birds were extremely high up.
