Saturday 2nd February 2008 – Cornwall Bird Reports

The Little Gull remained at St Gothian Sands and the Humes Leaf Warblers were again at Tehidy Country Park and Cot Valley. Two BN Grebes and three Iceland Gulls were still at Newlyn Harbour. Cattle Egrets numbered eighteen at Drift today and the Avocet was still on the Estuary at Hayle (thanks W.Fullman). The Water Pipit was still at Marazion at the mouth of the Red River. New Birds elsewhere included:

Stithians Reservoir – *CATTLE EGRET* (3) SE of southern cuttoff at 1015hrs. Also Bittern and Ring-necked duck still present (thanks S.Taylor)

Newquay – *CATTLE EGRET* (5) near Trenistick Farm in fields near Crantock Plains Touring Park at 11.00hrs.

LooeGLAUCOUS GULL at Hannafore Point this afternoon. *CATTLE EGRET* (2) still SW of Widegates in field opposite Downend B&B at 15.00hrs.

PorthlevenYellow-browed Warbler NE of Gunwalloe at start of boardwalk to Gunwalloe Marsh. SW.661.228

Park Head Common Scoter (22) plus large numbers of Auks and Gannet feeding offshore (thanks P.McVey)
