Saturday 19th April 2008 – Cornwall Bird Reports

Todays Birding highlights in Cornwall include:

Laddock - *CATTLE EGRET*(2)  in fields between Laddock and New Mills just after Nankilly turn. This pair have been in or around the same field for the last 2 weeks. (Thanks S.Wilcock)

Gwithian – *CATTLE EGRET* (11) in Cattle field near St Gothian Sands late afternoon then flew east up Red River Valley. Also Whimbrel (3).

Penzance – *CATTLE EGRET* (14) south of A30 Drift crossroads at Trevvenack Farm this afternoon. Whimbrel (60+) on Eastern Green Beach. (thanks M.Rouncefield)

Bodmin Moor -  possible LESSER SCAUP at Siblyback Reservoir at 17.00hrs. Also Black Tern on bouy at Watersports Center.

Stithians ReservoirRing-necked Duck (fem) still at southern end.

PorthgwarraPied Flycatcher in Doctor’s Garden this morning.

Sennen Hoopoe again at Brew Pool. Access from footpath north of Seaview Caravan Park east from A30. Also Redstart and cuckoo present.

The LizardPurple Heron still in ditch at Windmill Farm NR. Also Hoopoe still (thanks B.Hawker)

WadebridgeGarganey (drk) at Clapper Marshes at 18.00hrs

Marazion Black Tern on Long Rock Pool and Black Tern (2), Arctic Tern, Little Tern (3), Little Gull (21+) offshore. Little Ringed Plover on beach near Red River Mouth.

GunwalloeIceland Gull between fishing cove and Looe Pool. Also Little Tern (5) and Whimbrel (52)

NewlynIceland Gull (2) in Harbour this morning

LooeLittle Gull (1), Whimbrel (16) and RT Diver at Millendreth Also Little Gull at Seaton Beach. (Thanks C.Buckland)

KenidjackHobby and Ring Ouzel in Valley today

MullionSnow Goose (2 white morph) on Mullion Golf Course at 08.30hrs but no sign since.
