Saturday 18th October 2008 Cornwall Bird Reports

Todays Birding highlights in Cornwall included a Common Rosefinch briefly at Church Cove, The Lizard this morning. The American Wigeon and Garganey again on the Hayle estuary and the two Whooper Swans were again at Stithians reservoir. Also at Stithians were Firecrest (2), Med Gull, Pintail, Redwing (5) and Golden Plover (300+) (thanks H.Cook and T.Hasdell). Elsewhere Yellow-browed Warblers were recorded from Penberth Cove, Porthgwarra, St Ives, Church Cove (3), Kennack Sands and Cot Valley. A Red-breasted Flycatcher was a brief visitor to a garden on the Gweal Wartha Estate, Helston this morning. A possible ‘continental’ Coal Tit was in Cot Valley and eight Little Auks flew past Porthpean.
