Monday 22nd December 2008 Cornwall Bird Reports

St Ives**SNOWY OWL**  (juv) again 3mls WSW of St Ives and south of B3306 at Sperris Croft. Park sensibly on B3306 and take footpath south from Eagles Nest up over the moor and view from rocks at top of hill on your left. The bird was sat on a fence post for the majority of the day. The bird is a good walk from the B3306, take your wellies too! (See Rare and Scarce bird map, zoom in and put on ‘satellite’ view). Also Short-eared Owl on the moor at 15.00hrs (Thanks R.Smith)

TruroFirecrest again briefly in private garden this morning (Thanks D.Jenkins)

Wadebridge Water Pipit (2) at Treraven Meadows NR and Firecrest still. Water Pipit at Walmsley Sanctuary again

Penzance Firecrest (2) in Clarence Street at Baptist Church this morning. Slav. Grebe (2) off Eastern Green beach and Swallow still at Heliport.

Marazion Bittern again this morning at Marazion Marsh RSPB, tho elusive. Also Water Pipit (2). Water Pipit and Purple Sandpiper on beach

Torpoint Barn Owl quartering the top fields by the three brick barns this morning and this evening at Trenninow Barn, Millbrook. (Thanks B.Taggart)
