Friday 3rd October 2008 – Cornwall Bird Reports

Todays Birding highlights in Cornwall include:

Pendeen *FEA’S PETREL* flew past at 07.15hrs. Also Sabines Gull (ad and juv) and Leach’s Petrel.

St Ives  Red-throated Diver (sum.Plum) close inshore at 11.15hrs. (Thanks S.Cole). Grey Phalarope (3) past the Island early afternoon.

CamelfordPECTORAL SANDPIPER still at Davidstow Airfield in pool by control tower.

Porthgwarra – probable MELODIOUS WARBLER again in 60ft Cover at 18.30hrs. Also WRYNECK, Firecrest (2), Hobby and Merlin this evening. (Thanks H.Cook)

GwithianLittle Stint (juv) and Wheatear at St Gothian Sands (4.30 – 5.30pm) (Thanks T.Twiggs)

Hayle Estuary (14.00-1430Hrs) – Pink-footed Goose, Curlew Sandpiper, Knot and Med Gull (2). Also Grey Plover, Bar-tailed Godwit (2) and Little Grebe (4) in Carnsew Basin. Curlew Sandpiper on Copperhouse Creek (Thanks T.Twiggs)
