The next DVD in the Birds in Cornwall series produced by Watch The Birdie Productions is now out and 2007 is reportedly hot on its heels. The 2006 DVD is once again produced to a high quality with superb video footage by John Chapple and is suplemented with commentary from the dulcet Cornish tones of SW Optics’ Steve Rogers. Rarer Species on the DVD include both Newlyn and Hayle Spotted Sandpipers, Purple Herons at College Reservoir, Gull-billed Tern and Wilson’s Phalarope at Walmsley Sanctuary and the Hayle Least Sandpiper. Stuff from the annual October excursion to the Scillies include Blyth’s Pipit, Red-eyed Vireo and American Robin. For those not so interested in rarities the DVD is packed with Scarcer and common birds aswell as some of the plants and insects that can be found in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Another great addition to the series and a nice reminder of past birds seen and missed!
