Wednesday 17th October 2007 – Scilly Bird Reports

Todays Birding Highlights from the Isles of Scilly include:

St Mary’s GREY-CHEEKED THRUSH still at junction of Porthloo Road and road to Mount Flagon in field with white horse tho very elusive. Little Bunting again opposite incinerator untill 07.20hrs tho elusive. BLACKPOLL WARBLER (2) still, one on Garrison by Pottery and one at Higher Moors Pumping Station, showing well. Short-toed Lark on airfield still. Woodchat shrike still at Pelistry Lane, showing well. LESSER YELLOWLEGS again flew NE over Old Town bay at 11.35hrs. RB Flycatcher (ad.male) at Newford Duckpond. WILSON’S SNIPE still at Lower Moors from ISBG hide. Siberian Chiffchaff south of road at Higher Moors. Serin flew over Peninnis Head.

Tresco BLYTH’S PIPIT still at Old Grimsby in long grass opposite primary school. RADDE’S WARBLER  by coast path between Rowesfield and Borough Farm at 13.15hrs. Siberian Stonechat on coastal path 200yrds south of Blockhouse at 14.00hrs but no sign since. Wryneck at north end of Gimble Porth flushed from coast path.

Bryher  – BLYTH’S REED WARBLER still at south end of green bay and showing well.

St AgnesRC Starling (juv) on Gugh in 1st Cottage garden at 11.10hrs.
