The Isles of Scilly Bird Group (ISBG) offers membership arrangements for non-residents of Scilly under the title “Friends of the ISBG”. It is open to anyone interested in birding and is offered at an annual subscription of £12 in the UK and £15 for overseas. The purpose of this type of membership is to keep birders in touch with the birding scene on Scilly throughout the year.
The membership year runs from 1st August to 31st July of the following year and includes the Bird & Natural History Review for the preceding year e.g. membership for the period 1 August 2006 to 31 July 2007 will include the 2005 Review. You are also sent 2 Newsletters each year, one in January which includes a summary of the September/October migration period, and one in July that covers the spring migration. There are also articles on Scilly birding, local island news that is relevant to bird-watchers, general articles on Scilly natural history etc. A good read and normally selling at £1.50 , they are both included within your membership fee, making it excellent value.
For examples of pages from these Reports & Newsletters, see the Reports & Newsletters page on the ISBG website.
