Friday 12th October 2007 – Scilly Bird Reports

Todays Birding highlights on the Isles of Scilly include:

St MarysPENDULINE TIT flew in calling at Lower Moors at 09.40hrs then flew off towards north of end of Island. Probable WILSON’S SNIPE on Lower Moors Pool still at 11.45hrs (see photos below). YB Warbler at Higher Moors. Woodchat Shrike still byPelistry Lane. **GREY-CHEEKED THRUSH** in ploughed field by new footpath between Rocky Hills and Porthloo duckpond, but no sign by . **BLACKPOLL WARBLER** still at higher Moors. From road, bird is in trees on right hand side just befor bend. RED-THROATED PIPIT flew NE over Longstone Centre at 15.20hrs. Short-toed Lark from church road in ploughed field on right just after health centre at18.25hrs.

Tresco Little Bunting at Borough Farm at 10.45hrs. GREAT-WHITE EGRET flew towards St Martin’s over Pentle Bay with a Little Egret at 10.30hrs. YB Warbler near Swarovski Hide.

St Martin’s YB Warblers at Lower Town and higher Town behind tennis courts. Mistle Thrush over.

BryherOsprey on rocks at Rushy Porth being mobbed by Hooded Crow. BLYTH’S REED WARBLER at south end of Green Bay by coastal path, showing occasionally and calling at 12.55hrs. (2nd day)

St AgnesLittle Bunting in weedy fields below Troy Town at 11.50hrs
