Paul Mallett of Launceston has sent in his Garden List so far for 2007.
Gt Sptd. Woodpecker
Long tailed Tit
Lsr Spt. Woodpecker
Lesser BB Gull
Paul says, “My “bird-feeder tree” blew down in a gale earlier in the year, so actual numbers visiting the garden appear to be down. The appalling “summer” didn’t help either!”
“There’s no new species on my list this year. My running total for the garden is 71 species altogether! Last year was particularly good, with 62 species seen, including Curlew, which I picked up by its call early one morning as I was having a quick breakfast on the patio before going to work!”
“I am incredibly lucky to live where I do, surrounded by farmland with a very few houses and a couple of farms nearby.”
“Oh yes. We also have Pipistrelle’s and (a month or so back) a Dark Long-eared Bat colony…
And a slow worm in the recycling bin, along with the occasional Bank Vole”
Sounds like the Springwatch team should move locations, well done Paul on 71 bird Species!
