On This Day in History – 27th October

A ‘Steppe’ Buzzard was recorded near St Ives in 1975 and further down the coast an Isabelline Shrike was at Zennor in 1989. Two Long-billed Dowitchers were at Crowdy Reservoir in 1979 a Red-rumped Swallow was at Kenidjack in 1987. Porthgwarra held a Red-throated Pipit in 1985 and a Spotted Sandpiper in 1968. A Dusky Warbler was trapped and ringed at Nanjizal in 19999. The one and only record of Green Heron was on this date in 1889, shot at St Austell now residing in Truro Museum.
