On This Day in History – 1st October

A Black Kite was  over the Hayle Estuary in 1983. Porthgwarra had Siberian Stonechat in 1985 and a Black-eared Wheatear in 1971, the latter for just two days. A Semipalmated Sandpiper at Torpoint in 1988 remained until 15th October and Crowdy Reservoir held a Baird’s Sandpiper in 1989. A Lesser Yellowlegs was at Calenick Creek in 1975 and a Gull-billed Tern was at Stithians Reservoir in 1987. The latter site also had a Dowitcher sp. in 1977.
