On This Day in History – 15th September

A Blue-winged Teal at Stithians in 1979 remained until October 4th and the same site held two American Golden Plovers in 1973, a Semipalmated Sandpiper in 1980 and a Wilson’s Phalarope in 1989! Stithians may be worth a look today! Elsewhere, Davidstow Airfield had a Baird’s Sandpiper in 1983 and a Rose-coloured Starling in 1990. The Red-headed Bunting at Porthgwarra in 1975 was resigned to Catagory D by the Rarities Committee.
