On This Day in History – 14th November

A Pied Billed Grebe at Argal Reservoir in 1992 stayed until 28th March 1993. It was then relocated at Stithians Reservoir on 2nd April where it bred with a Little Grebe and produced three hybrid young, one of which survived until the end of 2004. The adult stayed at stithians until 17th March 1994. The county produced the Western Palearctics one and only Varied Thrush at Nanquidno on this date in 1982. The bird remained in the valley until 23rd. A Ferruginous Duck at Long Rock Pool in 2004 was the first county record in 25yrs.
