On This Day in History – 11th October

An American Golden Plover was at Davidstow Airfield in 1981 and a Red-eyed Vireo was at Cot Valley in 1985.  The Sociable Plover on the Hayle Estuary in 1978 stayed until 16th October and was the first record for the County. A Swainson’s Thrush in 1987 was the second county record at Cot Valley. Another County first was the Scarlet Tanager at Nanquidno in 1981. Three Penduline Tits were at Lands End in 1993.  A good day for first and second county records!
