The Lesser Scaup was still at Colliford Lake on the 1st of the month and the three Cattle Egrets were still viewable in fields south of Tresemple Pool, Tresillian. Up to five Bitterns were at Marazion and the Water Pipit remained there. Continue reading →

Monthly Bird Review – January 2010

The start of a new decade began with a drake Ring-necked duck at Porth Reservoir, Newquay. The Richard’s Pipit was still available for New Years day listers at crows-an-wra and with white winged gulls relatively low in numbers this winter, an Iceland at Sennen and a Glaucous past Godrevy were welcome early additions to the year list. On the 1st of the month there was no sign of the dark-rumped Petrel sp. seen off St Ives on the last day of November. A Med Gull and two Black Redstarts in the area were scant consolation! Continue reading →
