Marazion Bittern again on RSPB Marazion Marsh

SaltashRed-breasted Merganser (6) at Millbrook Lake today (Thanks C.Buckland). Also Spoonbill at Millbrook Creek (CBWPS)

HayleAvocet still on Hayle Estuary at 0900hrs on Lelant Saltings viewed from The Old Quay House car park. Also Green-winged Teal, Iceland Gull, YL Gull, Med Gull (7), Reed Bunting (2), LBB Gull (180+), BH Gull (121+), GBB Gull (60+), Grey Plover (12), Bar-tailed Godwit (15), Greenshank, Redshank (36), Dunlin (120+) and Lapwing (1100+). Also Black-tailed Godwit on Ryan’s Field. PenzancePacific Diver again in Mounts Bay, viewed from Jubilee Pool this afternoon.

MouseholeEastern Black Redstart still on rocks between Rockpool café and harbor car park. Also Iceland Gull (juv) in roost at St Clements Isle this evening.

Quintrell Downs Cattle Egret (10) by A392 a mile south of Mountjoy.

HelstonCattle Egret (12) roosting on east side of Loe Pool just north of Carminowe Creek.(CBWPS)

Hayle Estuary Spoonbill still today. Also Avocet and Iceland Gull.

Newquay – Iceland Gull again at Porth Reservoir

Newlyn – 1 1w/f Black Redstart on rocks at Sandy Cove, also a Firecrest by the feeders. (Thanks R.Veal)

Bodmin Moor – Drake Lesser Scaup still on Dozmary Pool

GwithianGreat White Egret at St Gothian Sands LNR at 1020hrs then flew NE

HayleGreen-winged Teal (1w drk) still at Hayle Estuary RSPB. Also Ring-billed Gull (1w) again and  Avocet on Ryan’s Field then appeared to fly onto main Estuary. Also Iceland Gull and Yellow-legged Gull again(Thanks P. Jeggo et al)

Friday 27th January 2017 Cornwall Bird Sightings

PenzancePacific Diver off Jubilee Pool at 0900hrs. Also Common Scoter (10+), Ringed Plover (48), Sanderling (80+), Purple Sandpiper (12), Eider (drk) and Med Gull.

Bodmin Moor Lesser Scaup (drk) still on Dozmary Pool today

Sancreed Cattle Egret (3) in fields at Sellan Farm viewed from car park at Drift reservoir. Also Mandarin (2), Great Crested Grebe (3) and Wigeon (15+) at Drift Reservoir.

HayleGreen-winged Teal, Spoonbill and Iceland Gull again on estuary today. Also Ring-billed Gull (1w) on estuary late afternoon and Avocet (Thanks M.Halliday)

Helston – Cattle Egret (12) in field south of Cottage Hospital. Yellow-browed Warbler at Helston Sewage Works

Constantine – Cattle Egret (6) at Lower Calmansack, present for a week

Newquay – Cattle Egret (5) at Gannel Estuary late afternoon

Porthallow – Cattle Egret (3) at Porthallow in field by back road

Lower CalamansackCattle Egret (6 or 7) on Helford River (CBWPS)

Nanjizal – No sign of Little Bunting or Lapland Bunting at Nanjizal Valley, but Merlin, Peregrine, Reed Bunting (2), Linnet (40+), Skylark (30+) and probable Brambling.

Crowlas – Merlin flew south over A30 towards Marazion at 1330hrs.
