Todays birding highlights in Cornwall include:
Wadebridge - Red necked/Little Stint at Walmsley Sanctuary this morning until 10.20hrs when it flew towards Dinham Flats. No further sightings up to 15.00hrs. Bird relocated at Davidstow Airfield late afternoon and still present at 19.40hrs tho very mobile. Still awaits positive identification.

St Agnes - ROSE-COLOURED STARLING (ad) in private garden on edge of St Agnes Beacon today (Thanks M.Harris)
Hayle Estuary - Osprey again on post in main channel at 0710hrs.
Lands End - MELODIOUS WARBLER trapped and ringed this morning. Also Pied Flycatcher, Grasshopper Warbler, Tree Pipit (4) and Yellow Wagtail (2)

Saturday 30th August 2008 - Isles of Scilly Bird Reports
Todays Birding highlight onthe Isles of Scilly include:
Bryher - BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER still at Shipman Head until 12.25hrs. Also Tree Pipit (3)and Wheatear (20). ORTOLAN BUNTING on grass slope above Hell Bay this afternoon.
St Mary’s - Pied Flycatcher, Spotted Flycatcher (5) and Garden Warbler on The Garrison. Hobby over Porth Hellick Pool this afternoon.

This time by a ‘birder’ who was witnessed walking out onto the estuary and straight up to the post where the Osprey was sitting in an attempt to photograph the bird! The ‘birder’ flushed it whereupon it flew off towards St Erth. This is totally selfish behaviour as well as being a criminal offence! Was [...]

More Estuary Disturbance!!
We have had numerous reports recently of people picking the vegetation on the main estuary and Copperhouse Creek and filling up bagfuls. The Wildlife Crimes Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police and the RSPB are working together to curb this new problem. If you see anyone out on the Estuary filling up bags with vegetation [...]

Porthgwarra - PECTORAL SANDPIPER on small pool NW of coastguards station until 07.45hrs then on pool north of Car Park this afternoon. Probably the same bird was at Brew Pool, Sennen late afternoon.

Hayle Estuary Disturbance this Weekend
Dr Phil Smith is undertaking biological mapping of the entire Hayle Estuary to provide the RSPB with baseline data for the forthcoming Hayle Harbour Development. This will involve mapping the Enteromorpha and Salicornia beds at Lelant Water and the saltmarsh at Grigg’s Quay.
