On This Day in History - 31st August
Two Blue-winged Teals on this day in history, one at Stithians in 1976 and one at Tamar Lakes in 1989. A Baird’s Sandpiper was at Ruan Lanihorn in 1980 and a Wilson’s Phalarope was found on the Hayle Estuary in 1987.

On This Day in History - 30th August
Seawatching at Gwennap Head proved fruitful in 1988 with a Black-browed Albatross. A Wilson’s Phalarope was on the Hayle Estuary in 1977 and remained for five days. Star bird for this date though is undoubtedly the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD at Saltash in 1982.

An American Golden Plover at Stithians Reservoir in 1975 remained until 1st October. There was a Solitary Sandpiper at Drift Reservoir in 1980 that stayed in the are until 1st September and a Bonelli’s Warbler was at Land’s End in 1989.

A good historical day for Marazion with Great Reed Warbler in 1977 and Citrine Wagtail in 1986. Elsewhere a Citrine Wagtail was at Drift Reservoir in 1984 and a Black Stork was recorded at St Buryan in 1991.
